James Randy Thacker, age 73, of Athens, Alabama, lovingly known to the world as Randy, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Randy was born on January 11th, 1950, in Lester, Alabama, to Bollin James Thacker and Margaret Lorene Williams Thacker.
Randy is survived by his wife Karen Thacker; sons Jeffery Thacker (Laura), Kevin Thacker (Susan), and Jason Thacker (Diana); grandchildren Jeremy Thacker (Heather), Miranda Perry (Matthew), Mary Grace McCarthy (Shane), Tyler Thacker, Bryant McMunn, Caleb Collins, Jeremiah Thacker, Alyssa Williams (Quentin), Caitlyn Richard, and Morgan Richard; and great grandchildren Olivia Elyse Perry and Evie Claire Perry.
He is preceded in death by his parents.; and grandson Micah Richard.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Bob White and Eric Mattox officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00-1:45pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric McCafferty, Tim Sanders, Tim McLemore, Eric Thacker, and Matthey Perry.
Randy was known for his love of fast cars. He will be dearly missed.
