James R. “Buddy” Mitchell, 79, of Florence, passed away February 27, 2016 at Glenwood Nursing Home. He was an active member of the Pentecostal Church.
Visitation will be Monday, February 29, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Pentecostals of Florence. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor Bobby G. Crosswhite, assisted by Brother Mike Westfall and Brother Larry Burbank. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Bess Mitchell; brother, Russell Mitchell; and nephew, Keith Crosswhite.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann Smith Mitchell; sons, Terry Mitchell (Teresa), Eddy Mitchell (Karen) all of Florence; daughter, Kim Mitchell Clayton of Atlanta, GA; brother, Tommy Mitchell (Nita) of Florence; sisters, Martha Lee Webster (Bob), Judy Crosswhite (Bobby) all of Florence; grandchildren, Shane Bedwell (Michelle), Jessica and Jeni Clayton, Trista Pruitt, Aaron, Brylee, Brayden, and Bryndall Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Saloura, Ali, and Nakoa Bedwell, Allisa Wood, Bailey Pruitt, Huntlee and AJ Mitchell.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Aaron Mitchell, Brayden Mitchell, Steve Mitchell, Russell Mitchell, Shane Bedwell and Michael Gean.
Greg Daniel and Cody Green will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Glenwood Healthcare Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
