James Ottis Dutton – Obituary

James Ottis Dutton passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the age of 95 at the Decatur Morgan Hospital.  He was born July 30, 1922, in Morgan County to Dan Dutton and Laura Minor Dutton.  He was a lifelong resident and a descendant of the Dutton family, who first came to Alabama in 1830. He was employed by Goodyear Mills and later by Wolverine Tube until his retirement in 1984 and then enjoyed farming. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Danville,

He was preceded in death by his Wife: Lorene Penn Dutton, his parents, a brother: Louie Dutton, and two sisters: Irene Pope and Ilva Aldridge.

Survivors include:

One Sister:
Lorene Dutton Bryant

A Sister-in-law:
Mary Naylor Dutton

Special Friend: Vera Keedy of Birmingham

and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Pope, John Bryant, Barry Dutton, Dan Dutton, Joseph Richardson, Dan Evans and Will Steel.

Funeral service will be Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Friendship South of Danville with Rev. Caleb Lewis and Rev. Pearl Jenkins officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.    Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery (South of Danville).  Visitation will be Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Friendship South of Danville.

The family would like to thank the staff of Decatur Morgan Hospital who gave special care to him during his last days.
