James Orbon Hanson, age 90, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. He was a native of Lawrenceburg and resident of the New Prospect Community, a retired carpenter from TVA, and a member of VFW Post 1618 and Carpenters Union Local 1276 of Decatur, AL. Mr. Hanson was a WWII Coast Guard Veteran and one of the last survivors of the USS Menges.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emma Pruitt Hanson; two brothers, Irvin and John “Gid” Hanson; and one sister, Polly Roberson.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2013, with Mike Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors.
