James Monroe Kimbrough, age 90, passed away Nov. 25, 2016. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 28, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with William Brewer officiating. Pallbearers are Ricky Borden, Brandon Borden, Justin Borden, Eddy McKinney, Marty Smith, and Danny Sharp.
Mr. Kimbrough was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an avid fan of old time country music and recorded several albums. His music was especially popular overseas and in the northeastern part of the United States. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Kimbrough was preceded in death by a son, David Richard Kimbrough.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Kimbrough; daughter, Joan Kimbrough; grandchildren, Christy Borden (Ricky) and Kayla Kimbrough; and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Justin Borden.
