Mr. James M. “Bobby” Perkins, 73, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Decatur Morgan Hospital-DGC. His funeral will be Friday, March 14th. at 11:00 at Bethlehem P.B. Church in Hillsboro.
James was born to the late Willie and Novella Perkins on March 25, 1940, in Lawrence County.
On June 6, 1964, he was united in sacred marriage to Zelma Clay Perkins. He was employed with the City of Decatur at Fort Decatur for 23 years.
He confessed hope in Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of Ebenezer Christian Church where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, four brothers also preceded him in death, Lester Perkins Sr., Percy Perkins Sr., Willie Perkins Jr., and Hezekiah Perkins.
He is survived by his wife, Zelma, four children: Efrem Birgins of Madison, James Nicholas Perkins and Stephen Perkins of Hillsboro, and Hope Bumpus (Timothy) of Decatur; and six grandchildren. James’ legacy will continue to live on in the lives of his children and all those he has touched.
Public viewing will be Thursday, March 13th. from 10:00 until 7:00 here at the funeral home.
