Luther Pettigo Profile Photo  James Luther Pettigo, 73, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born on April 1, 1953, he was the son of the late James Andrew Pettigo and Sudie Mae Lyons Pettigo.

Luther was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and anything camouflage. He found great joy in spending time in nature and cherished the simple pleasures of life. He was also devoted to his beloved furry companion, Snowflake, who brought him much comfort and companionship over the years.

Above all, Luther treasured his family. The greatest joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished by those who loved him. His warmth, love for the outdoors, and dedication to his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Gary Pettigo (Anna Qawarig); grandchildren, Heather Kemp, and Brooklin Qawarig; brother, Prentiss Pettigo (Charlotte); sisters, Sue Martin, Elsie Pettigo, Sheila Lindsay; niece, Morgan Taylor; and his dog, Snowflake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sarah Mae Pettigo; grandson, JJ Rogers; and brothers, Gary Ray Pettigo, and infant Douglas Andrew.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Pegues, Saltillo.

Funeral services honoring Luther will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors. A graveside service will follow at Eggville Cemetery.
