James Lewis “Jim” Beers, age 75 of Columbia, TN passed away April 9, 2019. A1961 Graduate of Franklin High School, he received his Associates Degree from Columbia State Community College. Jim worked for CPS Industries from the beginning of the company in 1963 until the closing of the plant in 2006. He worked for Maury County School System as a bus driver. He then was an assistant for the special needs transportation. Preceded in death by parents, Ray and Mary Anderson Beers; sister, Mary Julia Johnson and her husband, Garland Johnson. Survived by: wife, Denise Nutt-Beers of Columbia, TN; sons, Jackson Nutt-Beers of Columbia, TN and Daniel Nutt-Beers of Nashville, TN; daughter, Maylen Nutt-Beers of Nashville, TN; brother, Harry (Diana) Beers of Smithville, TN; mother in law, Lynda Nutt of Columbia, TN and other loving family members and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Jennifer Crane-Crenshaw officiating. Memorials may be made to the Pat Summitt Foundation or contribution to any University of Tennessee sports program.
