James Leon Sprayberry, better known as “Leon”, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021. He was born on January 24, 1936 to the late Vinson Levi & Rossie Lola Burt Sprayberry in Clay County, Alabama.
Leon worked many years in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He served our country in the United States Army, was a member of Ruhama Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #437 in Fort Payne, and Alhambra Shrine-Chattanooga, TN.
A graveside service will be held at 2p.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in the Walker’s Chapel Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 4 until 7p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.
The family is accepting flowers or memorial contributions may be made to the Alhambra Shrine General Fund.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Cora Sue Walker Sprayberry; children, Reta Sue Sprayberry, James Michael Sprayberry and wife, Debra, and Gregory Leon Sprayberry and wife, Lenora; brothers, Billy Wayne Sprayberry and Mac Sprayberry; sisters, Mary Catherine Bright and Eva Lynn Vincent; grandchildren, Shane Spaulding, Heather Kelly, Michelle Foran, Michael Sprayberry, and Brad Sprayberry and wife, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Marketa, Sydney, Skyler, Zack, Braydon, Chase, Emily, Brooke, and Paige; and great-great grandchild, Claire White.
