James Leon Richardson, age 83, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at his home.
Leon was born February 18, 1943, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to the late Fred and Clara Smith Richardson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Jr. (Joyce) Richardson and Kenneth (Nancy) Richardson; two nephews, Joe Richardson and Donnie Richardson.
He is survived by his spouse, Nancy Morton; two sons, Rex (Sarah) Richardson of Lewisburg and Tim (Kristi) Richardson of Belfast; step-daughter, Lisa Burns (Lonnie Cates) of Lewisburg; two brothers, Larry (Pat) and Gerry (Cathie) Richardson of Petersburg; nine grandchildren, Tori Wiser, Kelsi Poplawski, Ryan Richardson, Kyrklinn Wunderlin, Jessie Rucker, Anna Clare Richardson, Tyler Burns, Harlee Seibers, and Landry Cates; fifteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Leon will be remembered as a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and someone who found joy in the simple blessings of life. He had a deep love for his family and treasured every moment spent with them. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and they brought him great pride, laughter, and joy throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, dove hunting, watching football, and spending time outdoors. Whether he was sharing stories, enjoying the beauty of nature, or simply spending time with those he loved, he appreciated life’s meaningful moments. He was a member of Petersburg First Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Belfast Lions Club, where he valued friendship, service, and community. His involvement reflected his care for others and his connection to the place he called home. His love, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation with the family will be held at London Funeral Home, 324 West Church Street, Lewisburg, TN, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Belfast Lions Club or to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Rucker, Rob Hawkins, Ryan Richardson, Troy Wiser, Tyler Burns, and TJ Poplawski.
