James Larry Thompson, 66, of Cherokee, died Sunday, June 15, 2014. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, from 6-9 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Shane Swinney officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
James was a member of Barton First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Henry and Ola Mae Thompson; sisters, Mary Lee Elliott, Jean Tapp, Elsie Waldrep, Ruby James and Pauline Holmes; brothers, Aurther Joe Thompson and Carl Sidney Thompson; and nephew Bobby Thompson.
James is survived by his sisters, Joyce Bradley, Linda Smallwood (Larry), Kathy Wilbanks (Wayne), and Lib Hall; and brothers, Terry Thompson (Ann), Jimmy Dale Thompson (Hope), and Junior Elliott; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Sledge, Ronnie Goss, Jack Crowell, Leland Timmons, Robin Darby and Jimmy Thompson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Bradley and Scott Bradley.
