It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Larry “Jack” Holt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Jack entered his eternal home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in Florence, Alabama, at the age of 79.

Born in Cypress Inn, Tennessee, James was the son of the late James William Holt and Mary Geraldine Boyde. He lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and an abiding love for the simple joys that make a house a home.

For 43 years, Jack served faithfully at Murray Ohio. His commitment to his work was matched only by his deep devotion to his family and his land. Known to everyone as “Jack,” he found his greatest happiness outside. Whether he was tending to his flourishing garden and beautiful flower beds, caring for his farm animals, or simply sitting on the porch—his favorite place in the world—Jack was a man who truly appreciated the beauty of nature and the quiet peace of his home.

Above all else, Jack cherished his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be carried on by his surviving family. His loving wife of 59 years, Judy Holt.  His children, Michelle (Tommy) Franks, Amy (Charles) Hunt, and Kelley (Curtis) Nutt.  His siblings, Martha Robinson and David (Linda) Holt.  His cherished grandchildren: Cody (Alex) Holt, Keisha (Larry) Haddock, Jaycee (Kale) Sandusky, Kennedi (Jake) Carver, Hayden Hunt and his fiancé Maycie Logan, Camri Rochell, and Karlee Allen.

Jack also leaves behind many beloved great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Jack’s presence, his stories from the porch, and his unwavering love for his family will be missed more than words can express. While he is no longer with us, his spirit remains in the gardens he tended and the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday July 3, 2026, at 2:00pm, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, Tn. Visitation with the family will also be held on Friday July 3, from 11am until 2pm service time. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens.
