James Larry Dancer Profile Photo James Larry Dancer, a beloved husband, father, brother and cherished grandfather, was born on January 4, 1945, in Ramer, Tennessee, to the late James Olen “Oatise” Dancer and Maudine Kinchen Dancer. He departed this life on July 31, 2025, in Tupelo, Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy of love and unforgettable memories at the age of 80 years, 6 Months, 27 Days.

On January 4, 1997, Larry was united in marriage to Brenda Downs filled with love and companionship. Together, they created a home where laughter and warmth flourished.

Larry was a proud veteran who honorably served in the United States Army. His dedication to his country reflected his strong character and unwavering sense of duty. A Baptist in belief, Larry’s beliefs grounded him and guided him throughout his life.

Larry was an avid sports fan of any and all sports, mainly TN Vols. He always had a game on of some kind. For 16 years, he even had the pleasure of calling basketball games, sharing his passion for sports with others.

He loved his family more than anything else in this world. He lived for time spent with his great grand babies, Kaitlee-Neal and Ledger. He was there for everything they were involved in. He had a special unbreakable bond with his son Stacy, now they are together.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Dancer; sisters: Sue Reynolds, Diane Sticklin and husband Gerry, Linda Parmley, Dina Mitchell and husband Stanley; stepson, Gary Hodum and wife Tammy; stepdaughter, Staphen Rogers and husband Jerry; daughter-in-law, Sherry Dancer; grandchildren: Justin Rogers, Casey Loyd, Trey Rogers, and Hailey Hodum; great grandchildren: Kaitlee-Neal Loyd, Ledger Loyd, Anna Rogers, and Jackson Rogers; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a son, Stacy Dancer; and brothers, Charlie and Curtis Dancer.
