James L. Whisenant (Jim), 71, of Huntsville, AL died September 29, 2018 at his home, from complications of Lewy-Body Dementia.
Jim was born in Nashville, TN where he graduated from Antioch High School in 1965. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1969 with a BS in Business, he served as a member of the Tennessee /Alabama National Guard.
Jim came to Huntsville after marrying Libby Weakley, the love of his life. He worked at Teledyne Brown Engineering for 37 ½ years before retiring as Vice-President of Finance.
Jim served his Lord as deacon, in finance positions and Sunday school teacher to children, youth and adults at Southside Baptist, Mountain View Baptist and over 30 years at First Baptist Huntsville. He cherished sharing the love of Christ through teaching.
James F. and Margaret P. Whisenant, his parents, preceeded him in death, along with his niece, Martha Jo Hamilton McCulloch.
Survivors include his wife, Libby Weakley Whisenant, sons Brett W. Whisenant (Cathryn) of Huntsville, AL and Matthew D. Whisenant (Sarah) of Athens, AL, brothers Robert V. Whisenant (Lynn) and David W. Whisenant, both of Brentwood, TN, nieces Sarah E. Whisenant and Melissa H. Bryant (Chris) along with one great nephew and four great nieces.
Visitation will be Wednesday October 3, 2018 from 3:00 until 7:30 at First Baptist Church. Graveside service will be at Maple Hill Cemetery on Thursday October 4, 2018 at noon.
