James L. Umphers, 75, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014, at his residence. He was born September 3, 1939 to the late Edgar Lee Umphers and the late Opal Senter Umphers in Itawamba County. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandson Justin, and cooking fish suppers for his family & friends. James L. was always thinking of others before himself. He was in the logging industry for 42 years, with 35 of those years being self employed with Umphers Logging.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Umphers of Fulton, Son, Jeff (Gail) Umphers of Fulton, Grandson, Justin Umphers of Fulton, Sister, Linda (J.C.) Enlow of Fulton, and several nieces and nephews, and his little buddy, Chloe.
Preceded in death by his parents, Sisters: Virginia Brown and Halovee Hood, Brother, Roger Umphers.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Houston, Darrell Pitts, Bob Bain, Robert Wayne Hood, Freddie Brown, and Jeff McMillen.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry Quinn, Tommy Graham, and Diamond King.
