James L. Gilchrist Jr., age 74, of Madison, AL died April 26th, 2016 in Funston, GA while visiting family.
He was preceded in death by his parents James L. Gilchrist Sr. and Opal Bellflower Gilchrist of Sylvester, GA.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Gilchrist of Madison, AL and his children Jimmy Gilchrist with wife Elon of Chelsea, AL and Traci Bruce with husband John of Madison, AL. His grandchildren are Matthew and Sarah Gilchrist and Lauren and Patrick Bruce. His sister is Gail Whitney of Albany, GA. He had many much loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He worked as a logistician at Boeing in Huntsville, AL. He was an active member of University Baptist Church and an officer in The Optimist Club of Madison.
Visitation will be at Berryhill funeral home from 9:30am to 11am with service to immediately follow. Military honors will be performed graveside at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the roofing fund at University Baptist Church in Huntsville or to the youth fund of the Madison Optimist Club
