James Kenneth “Dude” Comer, 80, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was born February 23, 1936 to Tom Houston and Letha Ferguson Comer. He was a member of the Fulton Church of Christ. He was a member of the 1952 I.A.H.S. Grandslam basketball team. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University. He was retired from Rockwell International after more than 25 years, where he served as chief industrial engineer. He was an avid gardener and Mississippi State fan.
Services will be at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Minister Russ Crosswhite officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Ken Comer (Sally) of Jennings, LA, and Richard Comer (Kim) of Fulton; one sister, Terri Jeltrup (Rick) of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Jay Comer, Alec Comer and Reid Comer; one great grandchild, Zyla Jane Comer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Gober Comer, who died October 22,2011; one brother, Edwin Comer; one sister, Tommye Kathryn Toner; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Don Holcomb, Boyce McNeece, Chip Prestage, Jay Comer, Danny Bell, and Wayne Haynes.
Visitation will be from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home.
