James Kelvin Brown, 66 of Bagley, was called home to be with the Lord on September 9, 23 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Kelvin was born August 14, 1957 in Jasper, AL, the only child of the late James and Bobbie Brown.
He was a member since childhood of New Temple Baptist Church in Bagley, where he served as Deacon, church leader and beloved Sunday School teacher for 30 plus years.
Kelvin was a graduate of Corner High School, Walker State Technical College and Athens State University. He was an exemplary educator in the automotive industry for 30 plus years, receiving numerous awards for excellence in his field of service.
Kelvin retired in 2011 from Bevill State Community College, and in 2021 from ICAR Industry Training and Rozar’s Automotive Paint.
Kelvin’s hobbies included, singing, fishing, golf, working on cars and spending time with his family.
Kelvin is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cathy Salors Brown; his son, Jameson Tyler Brown and wife Elizabeth; his daughter, Haley Lauren Brown and his grandchildren, James Easton Brown, Cecilia Elizabeth Brown and Gaines Ephraim Brown, along with many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday September 13, 23 at 3:00 pm at New Temple Baptist Church in Bagley. Pastor J.J. Creel and Dr. Wayne Shelton will officiate. Burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 1:30-3 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the New Temple Baptist Church Building Fund.
