James "Jimmy" BufordJames “Jimmy” Milas Buford beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend died peacefully at his home on Sept. 29th.
Jimmy was born December 7, 1946 in Huntsville, AL. He lived most of his 72 years in Big Cove Alabama and was the 4th generation to live in the Buford homestead where he enjoyed country living. Jimmy attended Owens Cross Roads Jr. High and New Hope High School where he played football. He was a member of the Army Reserve and worked in communication area. He worked for Huntsville Utilities for 30 plus years. After retiring, he enjoyed tending his cattle, spending time with friends and attending activities of his grandchildren, to whom he was known as “PA”.
He is preceded in death by father, Milas “Bo” Buford and mother, Jewel McKelvey Buford.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Taylor Buford of Owens Cross Roads; daughters, Terri Buford Pritchett (Jim) of New Hope and Kymberly Burton Wilson (Keith) of New Hope; grandchildren, Matthew Pritchett, Taylor Pritchett (Eric Hamilton), Sydney Pritchett, Elizabeth Burton, Christopher Burton, Mason Wilson, and Kelsey Wilson; sister, Margaret Mann (Clifton) of Owens Cross Roads; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday at 2:00 PM with Bro. Harold Kelly officiating.
Interment will be in the Green Valley Cemetery.
