Mr. James “Jimmy” K. Hester, age 77, of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Mr. Hester was born December 31, 1944, in Vernon, AL, to the late James Burris Hester and Ora Grace Lucas. He served in and retired from the U.S. Navy, and served in the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hester was also preceded in death by his sister, Ramona Johnson, and his step-father, Melvin Lucas.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, September 28, at 10:00 AM, at Furnace Hill, with Bro. David Sullivan and Bro. Rodney Brazil officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 6:00-8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Bit Burleson, David Gunnels, Sam Rogers, Randell White, Lloyt Lawrence, and Tony Merchant. Honorary pallbearers will be James Cole, Billy Rogers, and Gerald Billingsley.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Hester, of Vernon, AL; one daughter, Angie (Scott) Howard, of Vernon, AL; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Tilley and Mallory (David) Hudnall; three great-grandchildren, James, Stephanie, and M.J. Hudnall; one brother, Thomas (Phyllis) Lucas; two sisters, Sharon (Jerry) Johnson and Jackie Hattaway; and a host nieces, nephews, and friends.
