Funeral service for James “Jimmy” Bates, 71, of Decatur will be Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Robinson officiating. Visitation will be tonight, October 13, 2014, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mr. Bates died Sunday, October 12, 2014, at his residence. He was born July 2, 1943, in Morgan County to John B. Bates and Audie T. Bell Bates. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include wife,
Marie Bates; two Sons,
Robert Bates and Joe Bates; three daughters,
Fay Champion, Mary Copeland and Lisa Nix;
two brothers, Hubert L. “Rocky” Bates and Larry J. Bates; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
