James “Jimbo” Davis, 89 of Dora, passed away May 27, 2026 at his residence.
Mr. Davis was a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful friend, who touched the lives of so many through his kindness, strength, and love for his family. He treasured every moment spent with those he loved. He leaves behind countless memories that will be forever cherished.
He was a retired coal miner from Jim Walter Resources. He was a member of the UMWA. He was longtime owner of the Hull Rd. Service Center in Sumiton. He was an avid Auburn fan.
Graveside service and burial will be Friday May 29th at 11:00 am at New Horizon Memorial Gardens. His grandsons, Brady Morrison, Austin Glines and Carson Davis will officiate. There is no formal visitation. Everyone is invited to meet at the graveside.
Jimbo was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lessie Davis, daughter, Lynette Davis Pearson; great grandson, Landon Kyle Walker; brothers, L.D. Davis (Peggy) and Elbert Davis, and sisters, Shelby Davis Martin and Melba Davis LeVan.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy “Dot” Davis; son, Clark “Julio” Davis (Becky), daughter, Rhonda Davis Nesmith (Dennis) and son, Mark Davis (Amber); grandchildren, Kendra Walker Vaught, Skylar Davis (Brittany), Kyle Walker (Jennifer), Allison Kolbas (Brett), Dalton Nesmith (McKenzie), Hannah Nesmith Morrison (Brady), Ashley Davis Glines (Austin), Carson Davis and Claire Davis; great grandchildren, Madelyn Vaught, Max Vaught, Mollie James Glines, Macie Jo Nesmith, Nicholas Kolbas and Becca Alice Glines; brother, Larry Davis (Janette); sister-in-law, Jane Davis; brother-in-law, Robert “Rabbit” Martin, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
