James “Jim” Walter Keeton – Obituary

James “Jim” Walter Keeton, 81, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Decatur Morgan Hospital after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

He leaves behind his dear friend, Cordelia “Corkey” King; her children, Ruby Cartee and Broderick King (Piper) and grandchildren, Zachary King (Amanda), Kaitlyn King Hembree (Jake), Paul King (Rachael), Paden King and Nikki Cartee.

He was born in Brilliant, Alabama, on June 14, 1934. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Willie Keeton and Martha Ann Myers Keeton.

He leaves behind two sisters, Nellie Dickinson and Ida Skelton, and one brother, Frankie Keeton, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by several stepbrothers and sisters.

After serving in the Air Force, Mr. Keeton had the opportunity to work for Franklin Homes for many years.

The family will receive guests today, May 12, 2016, from noon to 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with a service immediately following in the chapel. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery in Addison.

Pallbearers will be Zachary King, Blane Doss, Wade Doss, Ronny Vickery, Joel Vickery, Paul King and Paden King.

The family would like to thank the staff of Summerford Nursing Home and Decatur Morgan Hospital for taking care of Mr. Keeton these past several months.
