James “Jim” Walter Devier, 71, died Friday, June 14, 2024, peacefully at home. He was born on Whitby Island, Washington on August 21, 1952.

Jim was a custom home builder in the local Huntsville area building countless beautiful homes. He was well respected by his peers as a master craftsman. He loved the outdoors, sailing, deep sea fishing, racing, and woodworking. He was loved and will be missed by those who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Rand Devier; sons, William Rand Devier and Walter Rand Devier; granddaughters, Shelby Tacon and Clarke Nadine Devier; and sisters, Eleanor Clark of Shelton Washington, and Angie Miller, of Silverton, Oregon. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Allen Devier, mother, Grace Mildred Edens Devier, brother, Charles “Chuck” Devier, and sister, Eden Devier.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Ditto Landing East Harbor House, 146 Harbor Road, Huntsville, AL, 35803. 34° 33’ 49.9” N 86° 32’ 49.0” W
