James “Jim” Roland Williams, age 96, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, of natural causes. He was born August 3, 1928, to Lawson C. and Annie L. Williams in Madison, AL where he was raised.

Jim graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Civil Engineering and was a devoted lifelong fan of the Crimson Tide. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant in the Army before beginning his career.

Jim was employed with Morton Thiokol in Huntsville Alabama, for over 30 years and retired as a Group Supervisor. In retirement, he tended to his vegetable garden, played senior softball and volleyball and cared for his wife, Nell Williams, who lived with Alzheimer’s for many years. Nell died in 2012 of heart failure. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville.

Jim is survived by his wife, Doris J. Wiliams, who is also a member of First Baptist. He is also survived by his son, Robert “Bobby” K. Williams (Shana) of Birmingham; his daughter, Susan Williams Levine of Orlando; his grandchildren, Andrew Williams (Stacy), Jennifer Williams Fife (John) of Birmingham and Robin Levine Schenk of Orlando. Jim also had four great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Lauren, Jim’s hospice nurse with Gentiva, for her support and kindness.

A graveside service will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in Maple Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mark Seanor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jim’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association
