James "Jim" Larry Looney James “Jim” Larry Looney, 75 of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Looney was born on September 4th, 1946, to James and Ozell Emerson Looney.

Mr. Looney is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Looney; son Greg Looney (Lisa) and Chris Looney (Amy); grandchildren Nicholas Looney (Magen), Briana McConnell (Caleb), Sophia Looney, and Zane Looney; great-grandchildren Reese Looney, River Looney, and soon-to-be Wynn David McConnell; brother Jackie Looney (Debbie); and sister Judy Looney.

Preceded in death by his parents; and sister Sue Lovell.

Mr. Looney worked for 40 years at Intergraph, followed by 5 years with Certified Appraisals, before becoming a licensed realtor with Innovative Realty Solutions in 2017. His hobbies included spending time with family, working outdoors, and attending his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. He was baptized into Christ in November 2021, and he loved sharing the peace and comfort he found in the Lord with everyone he knew.

A memorial service for Mr. Looney will be Friday, March 4th, 2022, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Jim Bullington and Kasey Harbin officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Comfort Care Hospice.
