James “Jim” Horace Knight, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in Florence, Al. He was born on June 1, 1948, to Nannie and Horace Knight in Decatur, AL, and his entire life was surrounded by family and faith.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Park with Chad Hess officiating.
Jim was an Air Force Veteran and retired from TVA. He was a faithful member of Woodmont Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also active in the food bank ministry. Over the years he served on many ministry teams such as building beds for the “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” ministry and going to Honduras to help build a church building.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Diana Lee Knight and his parents Nannie and Horace Knight.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Knight; son, Jason Knight (Tina); grandson, John Knight (Madisyn); sister, Jane Brown; sister-in-law, Sandra Howell, and many nieces/nephews and grand-nieces/nephews.
Pallbearers will be deacons from Woodmont Baptist Church.
