James “Jim” Edward Spears – Obituary

James-Jim-Spears-1450944736James “Jim” Edward Spears, age 70, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.

Jim was born in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee May 3, 1945 to the Late John Spears Sr. and Late Willie May Tice. Jim grew up in Maury County. Jim served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He married his loving wife Kay “Adams” Spears 49 years ago. He enjoyed working for All Occasions Flowers with his wife delivering flowers for years; he also worked at Zeneca where he eventually retired. If you knew Jim then you knew he was an avid sports fan. He especially loved the Tennessee Vols. You never saw Jim without his UT hat on. Jim also supported the athletic programs of the Mt. Pleasant school system. He loved spending time going to all the Mt. Pleasant games and taking Shane to all the ball games with him. Jim was also a adamant supporter who pushed to build the field house at Mt. Pleasant high school. He enjoyed gossiping with his “breakfast club” at the Small Town Diner; going fishing and watching games on T.V. Jim always had the remote sometimes he was referred to as the “Master of the Remote.” He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Jim was a caring man and he cared deeply for his family. He also cared for his ill mother-in-law “Mrs. Ruby” all way until her passing. He was especially proud to be a “Poppa” to his granddaughter. Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years: Kay Spears; son: Tim Spears (Wesley Morrison); granddaughter: Skyler Spears-Morrison; sisters: Wilma “Squeak” Chatman, Sondra (Wray) Wright, and Diana (Cliff) Lamb; brother: Ronnie (Shirley) Spears; special niece: Summer Smith; brother in law: James Ray Boshers; and several nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his sisters: Mable Hite, Carlene Littrell, and June Boshers; brothers: Mose Spears, John Spears Jr., and Albert “Rabbit” Spears

Services will be held Sunday, December 27, 2015 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 26, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Brother Ezell Rose and Mike Roberts will be officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be: Ryan Spears, Tony Chatman, Greg Spears, Dale Crews, Jason Boshers, and Wendell Spears.

Honorary Pallbearers include: Lonnie & Loreita Daniels, Shaw Daniels, Gordon McWilliams, Jim T. & Patty Hamilton, Billy Hollis, Johnny Littrell, David & Susan Greenfield, Tommy Nicholson, Kay & Marion Hill, Dudley McCormick, Douglas & Debbie Jo Marshall, and the members of Southside Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Field House.

The family would like to give special thanks to the all the doctors and nurses and staff of the CCU of Maury Regional Hospital for their love, support, and care.
