JamesJames (Jack) Ollie Miller, 88, of Gurley passed away Tuesday, February 5th, 2013. He was a veteran, friend, hero, pastor, candy man, uncle, daddy, papaw, great-grandfather and, his most precious role, a husband. Mr. Miller is survived by his loving wife, of sixty-nine years, Era Miller, four children Larry G. Miller – wife Patsy, Patricia Reed – husband Walter, Gary Miller – wife Mona, and Michael Miller. He was the adored grandfather to eleven grandchildren, Tammy Brown – husband Jerry, Tracy Cooper – husband Benny, Tabitha Whalen – husband Kelley, Darrell Reed, Tonya Drake – husband Shannon, Angela Misterka – husband Marty, Amy Allen – husband Mark, Tina Putman – husband Jonathon , Candice Turney – husband Ryan, Jimmy Miller, and Keri Bailey – husband Clay. He was blessed with twenty-one Great grandchildren, Emily Talton – husband Matthew, Heather Jones, Paige & Matthew Gentle, Tyler & Jordan Whalen, Taylor & Hagen Reed, Walker & Wyatt Drake, Garrett, Mikayla, & Ethan Miller, Stanton & Adelai Misterka , Hannah & Anthony Allen , Ryan & Ryley Putman, Caleb & Cayden Graves. He was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Miller was preceded in death, son Dwight Miller, Brother Rev. Audeen Reed, Mother Virginia Reed, Father James Ellis Miller, Stepfather James Nelson (Jim) Reed, sister Talcan Thrower, and Great grandchild Reed Putman. Mr. Miller was a WWII veteran of the Army, serving his country in the European Theater. He was loved by all his family and friends. He retired from Allison Wholesale after 21 years, and was a Baptist minister for many years. Visitation will be at Spry Funeral Home from 6-8, Thursday, 2/7. Funeral services will be held at Pleas Mount Baptist Church, Killingsworth Cove in Gurley. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00. The service will begin at 1:00 with JW Hawkins and Jody Bell officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleas Mount Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Miller, Darrell Reed, Wyatt Drake, Tyler Whalen, Matthew Gentle, and Garrett Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ethan Miller, Anthony Allen, and Jordan Whalen.
