Funeral service for James “Jack” Garner age 84 of Somerville will be Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00am at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Katherine Perkins officiating with burial in the Antioch Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Garner, who died on Friday, August 16, 2013 at his home, was born January 7, 1929 in Morgan County to Samuel Jackson Garner and Emma Wright Garner. He was a Methodist, retired from Wolverine Tube, enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and sharing it with the community. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; Geraldine J. Garner, two sons; James Rickie Garner (Sharon) of Falkville, Tommy Ray Garner (Sharon) of Decatur, two daughters; Janet Garner Allen (Wayne) of Hartselle and Amy Garner Mims (Bobby) of Somerville, two brothers; Carl T. Garner of Birmingham and Eugene Garner of Hartselle, one sister; Geraldine Ballinger of Hartselle. 8 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
Rickie Garner, Tommy Garner, Bobby Mims, Wayne Allen, Robert Mims, James Jackson, Ray Garner, Matt Taylor, Wes Ray, Bryan Thigpen and Jarrod Weeks will serve as pallbearers.
