James Hugh Thompson, age 79 of Sumiton, passed away Friday April 14, 2017 at his residence. He was a member of Owens Chapel Church of God. He loved Nascar and Alabama football.
Funeral service will be held Monday April 17, 2017 at 11:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. James Beard will officiate. Burial will be in the New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 am for visitation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Mary Lou Thompson; sister, Betty Parker; and brother, Aubrey Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Thompson; son, Scott Thompson (Teresa); daughter, Kim Hester (Jody); grandchildren, Jessica, Jamie, Tyler, Noah, Chris, Tisha, and Sean; great grandchildren, Aerial, Seth, Braden, Brooklyn, Leigha, Madison, Nolin, and Brett; great-great grandchildren, Kason and Novaeh; brothers, Jerry Mac Thompson, Phillip Thompson; special niece, Deb Devalcourt; and a host of nieces and nephews.
