Funeral Services for Mr. District Elder James Howard Wood, age 77 of Delta, will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Word of Truth Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Lineville City Cemetery.
District Elder James Howard Wood, age 77, long time resident of Delta, AL departed this life on March 28, 2022. He was born to the late Monroe Wood, Sr. and Flossie Mae Heard. He graduated from Clay County Training School in 1963 and was issued an Agricultural Scholarship to the Alabama A & M University in Huntsville, AL with the help of Professor David Scott.
Elder Wood was baptized in Jesus’ Name and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at an early age. He served faithfully as the Pastor of Pure Holiness Church of God in Lineville, AL. He was also the Founder and Builder of the Word of Truth Ministries in Lineville, AL.
Elder Wood was greatly respected and loved as a Man of God with a life of integrity, holiness and profound wisdom. As a man of valor, Elder Wood was a godly role model to many sons and daughters in the body of Christ as well as the 50+ foster children that he mentored for the Alabama Foster and Adoptive Association.
Elder Wood was preceded in death by his father Monroe Wood, Sr. and his mother, Flossie Heard Wood; one son, Leonard Wood; one brother, Monroe Wood, Jr. (Rosalyn); one daughter-in-law, Monica Wood; one grandson, James Wood II.
Precious memories will remain with his beloved wife of 30 years, Grace A. Wood; two daughters, Jennifer (Anthony) Ford and Pamela (Charles) Henry; two sons, Timothy (Wanda) Wood and James Richard Wood; one sister, Lucille (Rocky) Sharper; three step-children, Bridgette Duncan, Alonzo Koen and Alonna Pierson; four grandchildren, Jennisea Whitaker, Timon Wood, Jalyn Wood and Charles Henry III; two aunts, Ann Morris and Louise Stephens; one uncle, Edward Wood; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
