James Howard Parker, beloved father, Paw Paw, brother, and friend peacefully went home to be with the Lord on July 17, at the age of 89, surrounded by his family at home.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris H. Parker, father, Thomas Eli Parker, mother, Harriet Roseanne Parker, six brothers, and two sisters.

James is survived by his brother, Ralph Parker of Florence; his children, Connie Stearns (Mark), Jeff Parker, Gina Puckett (Ernie), Julie Landwehr, Matthew Parker (Sonia), all of Huntsville and Gurley; ten grandchildren, Nathaniel Stearns (Mandee), Daniel Stearns, Anna Campbell (Adam), Parker Landwehr, Connors Landwehr, Abbie Parker, Riley Parker, Evan Parker, Kelley Puckett, Ginny Carter; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Paw Paw’s greatest joy was spending time with his 25 children and grandchildren. He delighted in attending many of their activities and sporting events, spreading laughter everywhere he went.

James Parker was born on March 3, 1931 in Florence Alabama. He served as President of the James H Parker Construction company, formally known as Fleming and Parker Construction. Prior to that he served as an integral part of building the Alabama Space and Rocket Center as both inspector and manager of construction.

He was also an active member of the Lincoln Church of Christ. Over the years he taught Sunday school classes and served on various committees. He loved sharing his faith with anyone, anywhere.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 20th at Maple Hill Cemetery with Mark Stearns officiating.
