James Hewlett Smith, age 75, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, at home with his immediate family. He retired from Murray Ohio after 43 years of employment and was a member of the Lawrenceburg Elks Lodge #2206 for 47 years. Mr. Smith graduated from Summertown High School in 1957 where he played basketball all four years. Upon graduation, he continued his love for the game by refereeing for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. O. and Sally Sudduth Smith; three brothers, Hubert, Hayden, and Harold Smith; and two sisters, Irene Redner and Inez Adair.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Monday, March 25, 2013, with Wayne Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN. Family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
