Funeral service for James Harold Thompson, age 76, of Hartselle, will be today, March 15, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sammy Evans and Evangelist Michael Mason officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson, who died Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Parkway Campus of Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born August 18, 1941, in Germantown, TN, to W. J. Thompson and Joanna Brooks Thompson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Evans Thompson, and his parents. Mr. Thompson was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He had a lifelong love of old cars, and spent many happy hours working on them. He was the previous owner of Thompson’s Motor Company and Body Shop.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha Pharr Thompson; three daughters, Tammy Fitzgerald (Bruce), Darla Keenum (Greg), and Crystal Mason; son-in-law, Michael Mason; two stepdaughters, Jeannie Dutton (Kevin), and Laura Adcock (Jason); one brother, Kenneth Thompson (Jean); three sisters, Rachel Evans (Jack), Millie Hogue, and Melissa Parker; and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Grant Fitzgerald, Alex Adcock, Garrett Mason, Drew Fitzgerald, Tommy Adcock, Colby Dutton, Jake Dennison, and Will Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be his long-time friend and co-worker, J. W. Bryson, and members of the Breakfast Club at Chick-fil-A and Jack’s.
