James Harold Melson – Obituary

James Harold Melson of Collinwood, TN was born July 28, 1935 in Lutts, TN, the son of the late Thomas Fred and Eva Esther Henson Melson. He was united in marriage to Betty Repp on October 11, 1958.

Mr. Melson was an owner/operator of a trucking business and retired from the Tennessee National Guard. He was a member of the Collinwood United Methodist Church. Mr. Melson was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion.

He departed this life on Friday, November 16, 2012 at E. C. M. Hospital in Florence, Alabama at the age of 77 Years, 3 Months, 19 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Melson; a daughter, Jamie Rickard both of Collinwood, TN; and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild, Anna, who is due Nov. 28, 2012.

Services will be Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Tommy Flood officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Darrell Holt, Curtis Linville, Brian Cannon, Harold Thompson, Dennis Creecy, and Tommy Beckham. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hill, Allen Farris, Keith Stooksberry, Bill Thrasher, and Jasper Brewer.
