James H. (Jimmy) Gean – Obituary

JimmyJames H. (Jimmy) Gean was born June 8, 1927 in Adamsville, TN, the son of the late Robert Monroe and Effie Donaldson Gean.

Mr. Gean was an elder and taught Sunday school, at the First Christian Church of Adamsville. He was a member there for over 50 years. Jimmy was a retired school teacher, teaching for over 30 years. He was also a Basketball and Baseball coach at Michie High School and Adamsville High School. He had also worked for the Farm Service Agency in Selmer, TN. Jimmy was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was stationed in Guam during his service. He was a lifelong Democrat who loved quail hunting, gardening, fishing, and playing Dominos.

Mr. Gean departed this life on October 30, 2013 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 4 Months, 22 Days.

He is survived by two daughters, Anne Allen and husband Dr. William Allen of Amelia Island FL; and Keenan Williams of Adamsville, TN; a son, Todd Gean and wife Molly of Adamsville, TN; five grandchildren, Todd Whitaker and wife Heather, Anne Lacey Whitaker, Jeb Hunter Williams, Bolton Gean and Ali Grace Gean.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gean was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Robert Nichols.
