Graveside services for Mr. James H. “Dugan” Taylor, age 95 of Lineville, will be held at Lineville City Cemetery on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jerry Colquett officiating.

Mr. Taylor passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Clay County Nursing Home. A lifelong Clay County Resident, Mr. Taylor, or “Dugan” as he was well known, graduated from Lineville High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. Following his service in the Navy, “Dugan” was involved with the Civilian Conservation Corps, worked with his father at Taylor’s Bottling Company, and many years with Taylor’s Hardware and the Lineville Building Supply. He also served as a Mason, was in the Shriners, and loved to have fun, and play jokes and pranks on his friends and family. “Dugan” enjoyed doing yard work, and was a long time member of Lineville Baptist Church.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his daughter Beth Horn of Lineville; two grandchildren: Zachary Barnett and Heather Herron (Shea); two great-grandchildren: Hadley and Hunter Herron; one sister, Evelyn Ingram of Lineville, plus a large extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Silas S. Taylor and Claudie Atchison Taylor; his wife, Joanna Taylor; three sisters: Virginia Mann, Juanita Sides, and Mildred Thompson; and one brother, Charles Taylor.

Pall bearers will be Ronald Lett, Chris Lett, Eric Lett, Andrew Smith, D. J. Duke and David Thompson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:30PM until 7:30 PM, and until 10:30 AM on Thursday at the funeral home
