James Gregory “Greg” Wilson, a dedicated patriot, tireless worker, and devoted family man, passed away on February 7, 2026.
Greg’s life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his country. He served with honor as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army, a role that shaped much of his character and worldview. A 100% disabled Gulf War Veteran, Greg carried the weight of his service with quiet pride.
His dedication didn’t end when he took off the uniform; he spent his career working tirelessly within the Defense Industry. For Greg, this wasn’t just a job—it was a continued mission to support and protect his fellow service members and the nation he loved.
Beyond his professional life, Greg was the bedrock of his family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laurie Wilson, with whom he built a lifetime of memories. His legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, Megan Green and her husband, Jeff, along with their children, Kat and Trevor, and Hunter Wilson and his wife, Kayla, along with their children, Jude, Damian, and Audrey.
Those who knew Greg best understood his unique perspective on the world. He often found a special, kindred spirit in the dogs he cared for throughout his life, a testament to his appreciation for loyalty, simplicity, and unconditional affection. While he may have preferred the company of his four-legged friends, his impact on the humans in his life was profound. He will be dearly missed by his family, his friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” – Psalm 23
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Greg’s memory to OASIS Respite Care c/o First Baptist Church, 600 Governor’s Dr., Huntsville, AL 35801.
