James “Greg” Gregory Griffin, age 56, of Arab, Alabama passed away in Arab on Monday, April 21, 2025. Greg was born July 7, 1968 in Morgan County, AL. His parents were James Harold Griffin and Brenda Gail Wilson Griffin. Greg grew up in the Pine Ridge community and was a member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church. He had recently married Jodi Lee Talley.
Greg worked in construction and sub-contracted as a painter. Most considered him a “workaholic,” but he still found time to spend with his family. He was also considered a “Momma’s Boy” due to his loving devotion to his mom. Greg was always sharing laughter, he enjoyed a good joke and loved socializing.
Greg is survived by his wife, Jodi Talley Griffin; mother, Brenda Wilson Griffin; sons, Christopher Hallmark and Michael Evans Hallmark (Hannah); step-sons, Blake Freeman and Dustin Freeman; grandchildren, Joshua Freeman, Dalton Freeman, Kaitlyn Freeman, Walker Hallmark, Brennan Hallmark, Adalaide Hallmark and Sam Lyons; sister, Christy Gail Murphree and a host of extended family members.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, James Harold Griffin; and his first wife, Theresa Ann Griffin.
Services for Greg will be Monday, April 28, 2025 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, Alabama. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm. Family, friends, and guests will gather prior to the service from 12:00 noon until the service begins. Brother Kenneth Smith will be officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Honoring Greg by providing pallbearer services will be Carl Lawrence, James Yancey, Doug Yancey, Randall Stinson, Jo Miller and Derek Hallmark. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangement.
