580fea947546d-imageApril 30, 1932 – Oct. 14, 2016 — James Gordon Link Jr. “Bill”, 84, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 in Athens. Mr. Link was a longtime resident of Mobile, graduating from Murphy High School. He then attended Auburn University, receiving both a Bachelors and Masters of Science. He was a retired agronomist, working for over 30 years with farmers and nurseries. Bill was also a Korean War veteran, having served with the United States Army. He loved fishing, boating and hunting, but most of all, he loved his family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, James Gordon Link Sr. and Bertha Martin Link; and his sister, Mary Rearick.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Powers Link; daughters, Janis (William) Griffin of Huntsville, Betty Faye (Dwight) Collins of Athens and Joanne Cotton of Starkville, Mississippi; grandchildren, Heath Marks of Seattle, Washington, Joshua Collins of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Benjamin Collins of Huntsville, Lilly Collins of Queenstown, New Zealand, Lee Cotton of Gainesville, Florida and Jacqueline Cotton of Columbus, Mississippi; one great-grandchild, Payton Cotton of Columbus, Mississippi; his sister and brother-in-law, Bertha Link Dombrow and Donald Dombrow of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Hospice of Limestone County in Athens.
