James Franklin Smith, age 72 of Athens, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Mr. Smith was born September 19, 1946 to Frank Andrew Smith and Rebecca Hayes Smith.
A private Graveside Services for Mr. Smith will be held on Saturday at Limestone Memorial Gardens with Robert Hall officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Smith; sons, Charles Franklin Smith, Andrew James Smith, Jay Michael Smith and Caleb Brock Smith; daughters, Donna “Dee Dee” Smith Butler, Stephanie Diane Smith, Rebecca Ann Smith and Malinda “Lindy” Smith; grandchildren, Jody Butler, Emily Firestone, Melissa Jackson, Bayleigh Smith and Colby Smith; great grandchildren, Clayton Jackson, Scout Jackson, Hayleigh Firestone, Harper Firestone, Avery Smith and Chip Smith; sister, Frances England; many, many more foster children.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rebecca Smith; son-in-law, Shannon Butler; granddaughter, Zadie Wren Cooper; sister, Nancy Thorne.
Pallbearers are Dean Firestone, Andy Smith, Charles Smith, Jay Smith, Jody Butler, Scotty Jackson and Colby Smith. Honorary pallbearers in Caleb Smith.
