James Franklin Putnam, age 81, of Cameron, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Moulton, Alabama on February 27, 1937 to the late Robert Elzie Putnam and Dorothy Hill Putnam. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, James Franklin Putnam; brother, Eugene Putnam and sister, Ann Leach. He was retired from the U.S. Army.
James is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gail Monroe Putnam; son, Victor Putnam and wife, Susan of Cameron, North Carolina; daughter, Brenda Gail Moring and husband, Troy of Cameron, North Carolina; brother, Clifford Putnam of Priceville; sisters, Marie Panella of Huntsville, Dorothy Montgomery and husband, Lewis of Decatur and Barbara Brown and husband, Charles of Decatur; grandchildren, Elizabeth Colter, Greg Colter, Catherine Colter, James Putnam, Katie King and Jenny Putnam; great-grandchildren, David, Haley, Franklin, Jamie, Kayleigh, Harley, Ezra, Derry, DJ and Malachi and great-great-grandchild, Eli.
The funeral service will be held today, September 21, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Cameron Hill Presbyterian Church with ReWayne O’Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in Hillmon Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Lauren Brown with Amedisys Hospice for providing tender loving care to James which allowed him to remain at home during his final days. Also, a special thank you to family and friends for their prayers, encouragement, calls, and visits which made this very difficult time a little brighter.
