James Franklin Patterson, former resident of Patterson, California, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, in Livermore, California.
James was born in Alabama on June 19, 1933. He was one of nine siblings born to Lola Green and George Washington Patterson. He served in the army as a cook during the Korean War. After returning from his military service he moved to Oklahoma and learned the trade of glazing. He ended up moving to Livermore where he owned and operated his own Glass Company for 60 plus years (Jim’s Glass). James was very active in several fraternal organizations (Elks, Eagles, Moose, and Shriners). Jim was a warm, caring southern gentleman who loved southern food and loved to cook it for his family and friends. In Jim’s spare time he enjoyed watching football (49ers, Raiders, and Alabama). Jim was predeceased by his son, James David Patterson. He is survived by his wife, Cherry Patterson; his brother, Charlie Patterson; and his children, Donna Kay Del Chiaro, of Antioch; and stepsons, Mark Demo and Duane Demo, of Livermore, and James Robbins, of West Virginia.
He was formerly married to Mildred Vail and Sandra Rogers. His grandchildren, Michael Miller, of Colorado, Justin Patterson, of Sonora, Zachary and Drake Demo, of Livermore, and Raegan, Brett and Ryan, of Livermore, along with many nieces and nephews in California, Alabama, and Texas also survive.
Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore. The burial will follow at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella and reception will be held at the Livermore/Pleasanton Elks Lodge in Springtown at 5 p.m.
