Funeral services for James Ellis “Wormie” Joyce, age 91, will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Oakhaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 8 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the funeral home.
Mr. Joyce passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Joyce was a member of the Immanual Missionary Baptist Church in Milan, TN and a US Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. He loved going to the beach, cooking, and his family.
Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Ella Joyce; a son, Fred “Freddie” Bowman; his father, Leonard Joyce; his mother, Louise Joyce Carlton; a brother, Billy Joe Joyce; and a siter, Mary Childress.
Mr. Joyce is survived by three children, Bruce Joyce, Sarah Hopper (Scott), and Sharon Walker (Kerry); a daughter-in-law, Shirley Bowman; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Candie, Teri, Kevin, Brent, Chris, and Tommy; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
