James Edwards Hall II, age 55, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Visitation was Wednesday, April 8, from 6-9 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral service will be today at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Tom Phillips officiating.
Judge Hall was a 1982 graduate of the University of North Alabama and graduated from Cumberland School of Law. He was the first attorney from Brooks High School. He was presently serving as probate judge of Lauderdale County and was formerly the municipal court judge for Florence, Killen and Lexington.
He was a member of Killen Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Florence No. 14 having recently achieved the honor of Shriner. Judge Hall was also a member of Killen Lions Club and the Corvette Club. He served on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Lauderdale County, the Exchange Club and the Shoals Home Builders.
Judge Hall loved to fly and was a member of EAA. He also loved softball and was an avid bird hunter. He enjoyed caring for his mother’s orchids, but most of all, he enjoyed talking. He never met a stranger.
Judge Hall was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Bobo Hall, and a sister, Janice Hall Reese.
He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Young Hall; father, Jimmy Hall (Gail); daughters, Lauren Hall Kirkland (Brandon) and Kristen Reese Dollar (Danny); sister, Jennifer Hall; brother, Jeffrey Hall; grandchildren, Axel and Gage Dollar; and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be John McGee, Judge Ben Graves, Leon Smith, Jim Beck, Bob Martin and Cameron Olive. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Boone, Richard Gist and John Hawk.
