James Edward Word, 69, of Iron City, passed away June 30, 2013, at ECM Hospital in Florence. He was a retired mail carrier with the U. S. Postal Service, a Navy Veteran of the Viet Nam Era, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and of the Church of Christ faith.

Son: Nickey Word and wife Becky
Daughters: Kelly Word McMasters and husband Steve and Sherrie Word Townsend and husband Toby
Brother: Jimmy Word
Sister: Joyce Word Bradley
Grandchildren: Cody Bailey, Kelsey McMasters, Eli Word, and Kaitlin Word
Preceded in death by: Parents: James Wilson Word and Maybelle Word Rogers.
Visitation will be today (Monday, July 1), from 5:00-8:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 3:00pm at the funeral home with Wayne Kilpatrick and Leon Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors.
