James Edward Owens II passed away on March 1st, 2023. James is originally from Harlan, Kentucky and resides in Jasper, Alabama with his loving wife, Kathy Owens and 2 of their grandchildren, Kynlee and Olivia.
James was born on January 4th, 1961 to the late James Owens Sr and the late Irene Allen Hubbs. James met his beloved wife in high school and they celebrated 38 wonderful years of marriage. James and Kathy have five children, Shannon Owens, James Owens III (Megan), Amanda Humber (Jake), Rebeccah Owens, Jarrod Owens (Allison). He was an amazing Grandpa to 9 grandchildren: Angel, Nathan, Noah, Kynlee, Pepper-Anne, Olivia, Annika, River and Norah.
James graduated from James A Cawood high school in 1978 and upon graduation, he joined the US Army. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division and is a veteran of the Grenada conflict. After honorably serving his country, James worked as a core driller, coal miner, electrician, foreman and repairman where he was a profound supervisor and mentor to many individuals throughout his 40 year career.
James enjoyed spending time with family. Coaching youth sports, UK basketball and Alabama Football.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Collins Burke Funeral Home in Jasper, Alabama. A service will follow visitation. James Aaron will officiate.
