James Edward “Jim” Odom, age 86 of Jasper, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Walker Baptist Medical Center.
He retired from the Navy and retired from Fairbanks Scales as a machinist. He worked at Walmart in Jasper and Marvin’s and was a member of Prospect Independent Church in Nauvoo, AL. Jim was a very patriotic man, he loved the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, services will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Chad Beavers will officiate.
Mr. Odom was preceded in death by his Mother-Daisy Odom “Big Mama”; Father-Joseph Odom, Sr.; Sisters-Birdie Odom Dial, Nita Odom McCall, Gwendolyn Odom Barfield, Annie Odom Gould, Dotsie Odom Seawright, Thelma Odom Lee and Margie Odom Knight; Brothers-Joseph A. Odom, Jr., Dock Rachels, Emmett Rachels and Ostell Odom.
He is survived by his Daughter-Tracey Darty (Wayne); Son-Steve Odom (Robin); Sister- Olive Odom; Grandchildren-Steven Odom, Eric Darty (Mary Ivey), Brittany Darty Soares (Renata); Great Grandchildren-Millie Darty, Brooks Darty, Ella Darty, Jayce Odom and Eli McLemore.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Prospect Independent Church in honor of Jim Odom, 247 Doc King Road, Nauvoo, AL, 35578.
