Funeral Services for James Earnest Ford, age 76, of Lineville will be on Thursday October 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Chaplain Chris Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Ford was an Alabama native, and a graduate of Clay County High School where he played trumpet in the band. After high school he entered the Army National Guard and served for six years. While serving in The National Guard he earned his degree in Electronic Engineering at Gadsden State Community College. He was owner and operator of Ford TV Repair in Lineville and then worked for Alabama Public Television as Broadcast Engineer until his retirement. He enjoyed waterskiing on Lake Gerald in his younger days, watching Alabama football and surfing the internet.
He was survived by his daughter; Phyllis Harris (Hal) of Lineville; son Wayne Ford (Michele) of Delta; five grandchildren, Genna McCay, Kyle Ford (Anna), Haleigh Ford (Trent Williams), Allie McCormick (Brad), Cory Harris (Brittney); and four great grandchildren, Evan McCay, Kinsley McCay, Hayes Williams, Elena Pulliam.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Judson Graves Ford and Addie Burch Young, a grandson Dustin McCay, two brothers Sidney Ford and Robert Ford.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Ford, Kyle Ford, Terry Waters, Sam Zeigler, Brad McCormick and Jeff Bonner.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Southern Care New Beacon Hospice. Mr. Ford always looked forward to and appreciated visits from their wonderful care team.
His visitation will take place on Wednesday October 1, 2025 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland, and until service time on Thursday.
